... represented Great Britain at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, reaching the quarter–final of the 200 metres. He was also a member of the 4x100 metres relay team, which finished in 8th place in the final. In 1966 he captained the Scotland team at the Commonwealth Games in Kingston, Jamaica, when he was eliminated at the semi–final stage of the 200 metres.
